My Slow Descent Into Loserhood - My Atari Games
JUNGLE HUNT(Taito) | |||||||||||||||||||
Rating: 8.5 High Score (So Far): 40460 Ah, an Atari classic. This three-part game takes me back. I used to play it in my friend Paul's basement on a black and white t.v. Little did we know how much color we were missing. Seriously, a two-tone character is hard to come by in the world of Atari. The first part of the game is quite simple. Swing on vines. Note the fine bent-leg animation. |

Next comes the dangerous world of croc-swimming. Usually I am too frightened of the menacing crocs to try stabbing them. But there will be some of you who go ahead and try anyways. But don't come crying to me when your lifeless corpse floats to the top of the ocean. I'll be right near the top where I can get plenty of fresh air. The unpredicatability of the crocs really makes this challenging. |

Boy oh boy, talk about a bad way to go (right). Note the lines of pain indicating that this was a particularly excruciating death. It's not really the small boulders that you have to worry about, but one false move and the erratic-bouncing big boulders will cave in your head like a rotten grapefruit. If you really want to bug a person playing this (as Paul's older brother did), yell "WHOA NELLIE!" every time the player takes a jump.
The medicine men (not pictured) are like the bosses of this game. Get their timing down, jump them, and you are home free, my friend! Meet up with the Scandanavian chick in jean skirt (left) and get ready to start it all again! For some reason she keeps getting herself lost, though. Put a cow bell on her, for God's sake! When all is said and done, this is an extremenly fun game, and a real classic. |
