A shortcut to notoriety
Raiding storage depots is the fastest way to affect your reputation without spending money on bribes.

Attacking and destroying Storage Depots makes all nearby Corporations hostile with you. The more containers you destroy, the more your reputation is affected with the owners of the containers.

In this case its the police who own this particular Depot. Every depot you destroy will worsen your reputation with the depot owners and better your rep with the owner's enemies. Just check the rep details of each faction, its not rocket science.

Look! Officer Haylock is angry! Blowing up depots is the fastest way to alter your reputation without resorting to bribes. So if you want pirates to leave you alone on those long trade runs, blow up some depots and watch those pirates treat you as neutral rather than hostile.

Summary

In multiplayer games, often you'll find that someone else has blown up all the depots, and it often takes hours before they reappear, or until the server resets.

The trick is to watch your reputation carefully. If you blow up too many depots you might find yourself hostile to someone you didn't count on.

It's a lot harder to undo the damage than it is to prevent it, so learn to watch your reputation carefully as you blow up depots!

Look around some of the house capital systems (new london, new tokyo, new york, new berlin) for storage depots, you might find a goldmine.
