Other Fantasy Buildings | |||||||||||||||||
Up to the second world war poor people in my part of the Netherlands still occasionally lived in huts covered with heather sods, the so-called "plaggehutten". I expanded on that theme a bit and came up with a range of A-frame huts that together form a barbarian village. |

Some variety was created by giving each hut a different style front, and by alternating the colours of the roofs. The huts themselves were made out of Polystyrene sheet, as roofing material I used the filter for a kitchen fan. It really ate a lot of paint till no white showed anymore, but I like the roough result - a nice contrast to the "nice" thatching used on the Inn. |

Actually, I already made a beautifull base for this village, a nice raised platform surrounded by hundreds of toothpicks. Well, that was before we moved to our present house, and something heavy landed on top... There should be moving companies specialising in hobbyists! |

This farmhouse will one day be the center of the village. Here you can clearly see the basic polystyrene construction - nothing fancy, since it's all going to be covered up anyhow! It will be finished in the same rough style as the smaller huts. |
