Plaster Block Building Projects - part 1 | ||||||||||||||||||||
This inn was the first building I constructed out of plaster blocks. Since I used the flat blocks as bricks it took forever to cast and colour enough of them! The building is multifunctional. I describe it as a defendable inn, but it could also serve well as the stronghold of a local baron. The tower has been constructed out of stones swiped from site of a disused official building. The roofs are made out of foam insulation sheets meant to go under wooden floors. They have the proper structure, just paint and stain for the easiest thatch you can imagine. |

A peek into the inner court of the inn. You can see the second floor landing. The roof in the bottom is of the stables. I use bases with 30 centimeter (about 1 foot) sides, or multiples. This building takes up most of a 60 x 60 centimeters board. |

This fortress has some historical as well as some fantasy features. The second floor entrance is historical, but the footbridge is a bit overdone to create more of a fighting possibility. The pieces are removabler to depict a burnt segment. The 45 degree twist of the top is also not very historical, but more eye pleasing. The spires are a necessity to prevent dragons fron landing on the top of the building. The base still needs finishing, so does the roof. |
