Toronto at Ottawa Overview: Toronto has finished the season the number 1 team in CFHL with 109 pts and have many deadly weapons to watch out for. Martin Brodeur has been nothing but stellar recording a 51-22-4 record which stands as the best in the league. Toronto has a very high powered offense avg 4.56 goals a game. There 1st line has a combined 250pts and is a very young talented line with Brad Boyes, Trent Hunter and Mike Cammalleri upfront. Can Ottawa survive going against the best team in the CFHL? I think they can because Giguere is an excellent goalie but is the key to the series because he will be facing many shots as Toronto finished the regular season hammering 31.95 shots a game against there opponents. Who is Andrey Troschinsky you might ask? He has come out of no where and notched 80 pts in 67 pts and is a candidate for rookie of the year. Prediction:Ottawa in 7 games Colorado at Edmonton Overview: Colorado has many talented forwards and have Peter Forsberg the art ross winner of CFHL this season and this guy can tear up the score sheet in seconds. The Edmonton defense I believe can't cover and stay with speedsters like Hossa and Hejduk. Lalime has brought this team a far way and has done a decent job in the pipes posting a 31-20-1 record. Edmonton has accquired two great accquistions in Bertuzzi who has stepped and produced 17pts in 17 games and Tucker with 10pts in 17 games they will need more role like these to step up to have a chance in the series. Dipietro is a very young goalie and has never been in the playoffs before and he will learn alot from going through this. Colorado's offense is just too much for Edmonton to handle and that's why I'm taking Colorado in this series. Prediction: Colorado in 5 games. St.Louis at Detroit Overview: Detroit has finished off the season on a high note going 9-1 in there last 10 games. They have the best goals against avg of 3.03 and the only allow 26.8 shots against per game which is the best in CFHL. Cujo is one of the best goalies in CFHL and will prove that in this series and the rest of the playoffs. Detroit has a stellar defense lead by Gonchar who had 23 goals and 76pts. Rob Blake has been in the playoffs a lot and will provide a lot of leadership to this team and can also score goals. Detroit is loaded upfront also with Demitra, York, Heatley, Gaborik. St. Louis has gotten there number 1 goalie with Tommy Salo and has keeped them in many games and they would pull out the win. They just have to keep shooting the puck at Cujo and have to be very disciplined because Detroit's offense can fire it in the net at anytime. Prediction: Detroit in 5 games. Canucks at Calgary Overview: The Canucks have many players who have stepped up there games for them to win games such as Daniel Tkaczuk who had 35 goals and 14 Power Play Goals which is near the top of the league. Role players like Shvidki need to keep doing what they have been doing the whole season as he potted 28 goals. Vancouver is near the bottom in the league for shots for a game and goals a game. Mike Modano is an excellent player and the fans come out to watch players like him. He had 41 goals during the season which ranked 4th best in the CFHL. Patrick Roy is a very experienced goalie and comes up with the big win all the time. Calgary has the best Penalty Kill in the league and only allow 3.13 goals a game. Prediction: Calgary in 6 games. |
