Summary of Act IV, The Crucible
Danforth, Hathorn cause to the jail, want to make the witchcraft prisoners confess. Paris also came to the jail, and ask Danforth to postpone the hanging executions, because he's afraid of the uprising riot against him. Danforth refused the request. John Hale also came. He suggest Danforth to pardon them, because they refuse to confess. Danforth refused it, too. Hale wants Danforth give change for Elizabeth to make Proctor confess. Proctor pretended to confess, but finally he did not, and Elizabeth watched him to bring out by Marshals.
