SATURDAY- (By Lee) Arriving to find the site under a couple of inches of crisp snow, the HARDCORE (Chopper, Napoleon, Apocalypse Pig, Lonepig, Papabear and myself) saddled up and set off in a ragged patrol. Choosing to bypass the sodden field they headed straight up the hill. Entering the gulley, they joined the Bridalway and climbed the hill to the OP. Upon arriving, we decided to concentrate on the survival elements of Airsoft. SHELTER and FIRE. Hence, we sent out a foraging party (myself and Lonepig) to collect firewood. While the others cleared the OP and then set up the shelter. The floor was dug out and levelled into 2 tiers before the roof was erected. Then all the loose stones and some buried ones too, were moved into the OP's centre and a drystone wall was built. PAPABEAR filled all the holes in the wall with mud. This wall was for shelter from the wind and to act as a reflector for the firepit. Indeed, the last task was to dig a round firepit with an airvent, between the wall and the bivi. and to build a small stone chimney. Everyone's kit was stowed in the shelter and we all cooked dinner. |

Refreshed and ready, we discussed what to do with the rest of the daylight. Agreeing that with only 6 on-site, we would devlelop the site rather than play. PAPABEAR and myself headed off to set up tommorrow's games and retape the TAG ZONES. While the others set off to the PLATEAU with their shovels ready! Upon our tour of the site, PAPABEAR and myself visited the SAFE ZONE and could easily make out the others standing on the Plateau ridge from 300m away. The snowy white background indeed made spotting easy. Again meeting up with the others @ the Plateau, we inspected their hard work and informed them that their base would be here tommorrow. They decided to work uptill sundown while Papabear and myself returned to the OP and lit the fire. |
Once the sun went down the temperature plummeted and we took up residence in our nicely sheltered bivi. Feeling the warmth from the fire, we sat and discussed the possibilities of tommorrow. With some music provided by LonePig's MP3 player. As we talked, we were subjected to a series of snow and hail showers. But spirits were high, especially after a round of cheap plonk. Cooking our tea, we settled in for the evening and eventually, got into our bivi bags. LIGHTS OUT |
