EQUIPMENT |
An Airsofter can only carry so much into a skirmish. So it is important to only carry useful equipment, that has a purpose. This section covers pieces of such gaming equipment, other than Airsoft guns themselves. If you have a REVIEW of anything useful for gaming, then send it in and it will be (edited) and published. Please try and send in some pic's too. So, what works for you? |
MESH Face Veil ***** Excellent protection for an Airsofter's face and head. They are a fine mesh and therefore breathable, allowing a player to avoid steam ups, common with hats. The 2 elastic loops are good at holding the eye opening in place and a shapable nose piece keeps it in position too. They also slow pellets down considerably and vastly reduce the number of painful headshots recieved. For £9 they are cheap, but don't get confused with cloth versions (too hot). I rate these as essential items for woodland games. |

Motorola T6222 **** This small personal radio, is excellent for gaming, it is compatible with all other common types as it uses PMR446 frequencies (446MHz). This gives it 304 possible channels. It has a fast SCAN function that can be very useful for gathering information. Although this depletes the batteries much faster. Indeed the T6222 is powered by 3 X AA batteries allowing better life (8.2 hours talk, 130 hours standby) than most PMR radioes (often using 4 X AAA batteries.) Amongst many other features, possibly the most useful is it's SCRAMBLER function. This allows only another T6222 (with SCRAMBLER on), to decipher the message. Otherwise it is just completely garbled. Useful only if you have several on your team. Yet expensive (£70ish) compared to most models. |

TIKKA PETZL ***** If Airsofting, then at some point you will need a torch. Enter the "Tikka" by specialists, PETZL. Well this headtorch isn't going to be anygood for spotting, but it's great for close up stuff. This includes field/camp craft, reloading, walking in woodland, etc...... It sports 3 superbright LED's that produce a blueish beam effective out to 10m. It is tiny and take only 3 X AAA batteries. Yet has a battery life of 150+ hours. Although it does diminish in brightness as power is drained. The headband does keep it in place on your forehead, but can prove uncomfortable after a while. This is a great to keep in a pocket, although a tad expensive at £25. A lens kit is available for a few pounds that includes a red, green and spare clear lens. The red filter is great for "in game." |
