TEAM ORGANISATION Playing as an effective team will win games. Yet this is harder than it sounds and only practice will iron out any problems. Obviously, this is hard to get to work at first, as it takes a while till everyone realises what their responsibilites are. Some teams have Captains, who run the team and try to organise their team mates. Other teams, do not necessarily have anyone spokesman or CO. Often sharing the burden of controlling/organising the team. After a while, most players find which partners on their team, they work well alongside. Pairing off with this player and introducing a BUDDY system, greatly increases the teams strength and cohesion. Indeed, this BUDDY system is the basic building block of most teams. Finding someone who plays with a similar style and who you can depend on, will certainly increase your own effectiveness. These pairs are also useful when it comes to organisation, as briefings and the like can be sent to 1 player. Knowing full well, he will inform his BUDDY. Playing as a team, requires some kind of TACTICS, which should emphasise your players strong points and downplay their weaker aspects. Positioning players in the best place for their skills to work. Often it is hard to RUN the team without it appearing to be dictatorial. To avoid this, have organised meetings where any team member can put forward their ideas or problems. No one should be forced into a role that they do not want, as the idea of Airsoft is to have fun. Indeed, it can be a fine line between competetive play and having fun. Many may criticise Play to Win teams, but in order to win, a certain amount of drive is required. Espescially if your adversaries are fired up to WIN. So get into the spirit of it, like you would in any other Sport. 24 HOUR gaming requires other tactics, than simply contact drills and FORMATIONS for an Assault. It requires far more scope for tactical problems. Such as positioning your FLAG and camp, will it be hidden or rely on good defenses? Do all your player stick together or do you split into 2 groups, etc... there are many tactical problems and solutions that can be employed. I cannot list them all here, it's upto you to devise your own. This is called a MODUS OPERANDI. One thing is certain, 24 HOUR GAMING is all about using the time in hand to your advantage. Remember that some parts of the game will be fast and others slow, but over other things, the team will have to take into account it's own status and evolve a solution that best suits the teams needs at that time....... Every team needs to....... Communicate any information via HAND SIGNALS or RADIO comm's. Although a pre-set code will help keep things covert. Move as a team, maintaining good firearcs and correct spacing between players (10-15m as a general guide.) Identify their objectives and decide how they intend to score points. Some tactics are best discussed before the event. Keep up morale, without it, they cannot win. Do not lose sight of the gameplan or situation. Think tactical, think sneaky. If the game changes, then change the plan. Adapt to the situation the best they can. Always have a planned escape route and RV set up. Stay alert and switched onto the surroundings and threats. Do not be predictable or underestimate the opponents. Take time to eat and rest each player on a rota. Do not........ Get spread out. Keep radio silence all game. Move within 5m of your team mates. Talk uncoded over the radio. If something fails, do not try that tactic again straight away. Give your position away without need. Meandre carelessly along paths or bottlenecks. Chat amongst themselves on patrol. Move into exposed positions, without cause. |
