In the anime the main character, Morisato Keiichi, tries to order takeout and mistakenly dials the Relief Goddess Office. Belldandy appears and grants Keiichi one wish. He thinks the entire thing is a joke by his classmates, and wishes that a beautiful girl like Belldandy will stay with him forever. His wish is granted, and Belldandy and Keiichi move into a local temple. Belldandy's sister Urd pops in the second episode to try to speed up Belldandy and Keiichi's relationship. Next comes Beldandy's sister Skuld in the third episode who misses her sister and tries to get rid of Keiichi.
