| September 16th - I guess I have some explainging to do. Okay. Let's go back to August 6th. Started the new job. Reason I got the job was because I was sick of working in a factory. Plus I had strained my shoulder pretty bad and it wasn't getting any better working in the factory I did it in. So I tried to get a job back in an office environment where I can use my geek 44wpm and 9500 k/s computer skills. Unfortunately, no office really wanted a forklift driver doing their clerical duties. So the job I took was supposed to be officey but looking after warehouse stuff. Cool. So I start, and it isn't. Didn't touch a computer at all. I knew after a day I didn't want to be there. So I gave it a week. And I knew I really didn't want to be there. So I gave it a couple of weeks. And I really knew I didn't want to be there. So I left. No job to go to, but had to get out. So the gut is unemployed. Until yesterday (15th Sept). Showed THEM I couldn't work in an office! Started at Mitsubishi Electric in the internal sales division doing customer service / data entry. It's great. Nice folk, multi-national company. Sweet. It is about 75 minutes drive each way, but you get that. Maybe after Xmas and my trip to Japan I will move back over near Putney or something. Hang on - what trip to Japan? Well it looks like Porkers are touring Japan late January. More news as I get it, but I believe we are recording a live album there as well as play about 9 or 10 shows. Should be fun. Spewing that I will miss Rob and Sal Molnar's wedding. And Metallica at the Big Day Out. Lucky I got tix to the Entertainment Centre show the night before I fly! August 6th - Started a new job on Monday. 7am start. I was late. The title is Stock Controller, but I guess it is despatch / receiving / stocktake - all warehouse duties I guess. The place is a disgusting mess, and due to years of hording there is no room for anything. Shit everywhere. I was employed to clean it up. Challenge! Not a fan so far, but I reckon I'll be okay. If not, I will piss off and do something else. No drama. Since last news Dave's Band is not only playing but being rebooked back into rooms we've done! Places like Crows Nest Hotel and the 3 Wise Monkeys bar in the city are great fun to play - Monkeys goes nuts - but some places are shithouse. Usually the places that pay shit are shit - no coincidence there I reckon. My MYOB skills are coming along okay - thanks a million Rob! - and it balances spot on so far (after 3 weeks) so that's a start. Anyways - bed now as I get up at 6am. That sucks big balls. May 22nd - So where have I been? Nowhere. That's right - I have done pretty much the sam ething for the past 2 months due to me being boring. Minimal fundage has a little to do with it, but maybe I was partially a hermit too. Can't think of a reason - just how it is. I plan on coming out of the shell a bit now as my new business starts next wee. Going back to the covers band circuit with my own band called Dave's Band. Really! First gig is at HQ Bar in Sydney next Sat 31st May - sort of a warm-up / iron out the wrinkles show at my mates' pub playing to my mates. Should be fun. Then we play all over the shop - from Crows Nest to the Shire to Parra to Campbelltown. And the magic word is Ch-ching! Plus it's a nice feeling to own my own business. Cool. ile, but boring and nothing much new. Oh well! |
