Frederick and Ruth Cook originated from Tennessee and South Carolina respectively. They moved to Union County, Illinois before 1819, when their first son, Morgan W. Cook was born. Their second son, Moses P. Cook was born there also. They then moved to Kentucky (possibly Simpson County), where all their other children were born. They then moved back to Hardin County, Illinois.
Frederick and Ruth were born in 1797. Ruth died between 1850/1860 in Cave-in-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois. Frederick died between 1860/1870 in Cave-in-Rock. They had nine known children. I am descended from two of them. Their children are as follows:
1. Morgan W. Cook b. 1818 in Union County, Illinois. He married about 1844 to Winney and had daughters Louisa and Emma. He died after 1870. Last known residence was Searcy County, Arkansas in 1870.
2. Moses P. Cook b. 23 Jul 1820 in Union County, Illinois. He married about 1845 to Louisa Jane Carter in Hardin County, Illinois. They had 10 known children as follows: Mary, Martha, John, Harriet, George, Joseph, Nancy, Laura, Willis and Amos Jackson Cook. Moses died after 1881 in Union County, Illinois.
3. Winneta b. 1822 in Kentucky, married about 1844 to a Mr. Miller and had two children Havy Ann and Thomas. She then married William Locke and had a son Isaac Locke. She died about 1871 in Union County, Illinois.
4. Harry b. 1824 in Kentucky married Parella S. by 1850 in Hardin County, Illinois. No record of him after 1850.
5. Ann b. 1826 in Kentucky married John Thorn about 1845 in Hardin County. Had children Henry and Massa J.. No record of her after 1860.
6. Susan b. 1828 in Kentucky marrried William Stone about 1848 in Hardin County, Illinois. No record of her after 1850.
7. Rebecca b. 1833 in Kentucky no record of her after 1850.
8. Lydia Jane Cook b. 1834 in Kentucky married Franklin Morgan about 1858 in Hardin County, Illinois. Had son Herman B. Morgan. She died between 1860 and 1871.
9. Matilda Cook b. March 1836 in Kentucky married Benjamin Holbrook about 1850 in Hardin County, Illinois. They had the following children:William, Susan, Asa, Nancy, Samuel, Mary, Sarah, James and Martha.
