John Lewis Pullen and Virginia Ann Baker

John Lewis Pullen was born in (probably Scott County) Kentucky around 1822. He died before 1880 in Louisville, Kentucky. It is believed that he was the son of Fountain M. Pullen of Scott and Woodford County, Kentucky. On 3 Jun 1840, John L. Pullen married Virginia Ann Baker at Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana. Virginia was born in Maryland around 1823. John and Virginia had the following children:

1. Isaac Fountain Pullen (Oct 1840-1910/1920) who married Martha Jane Wade and had the following children: Virginia, Isaac Newton (Adda Sprouse), infant, Katie M., Julia Bell (John Wilcox), William Henry (Minnie Seicrest), Emma Jane (Henry Bast), Charles C., Pearl M. (John Young) and Barabara. Note: Isaac and family settled in Tallula, Menard County, Illinois

2. Katy B. (1844-aft 1870)

3. William W. Pullen (1846-aft 1880) who married Sally and had the following children: Anna, Alexander, Nellie, Harry, Carrie and Blanche.

4. James Pullen (1848-aft 1870)

5. Alice Pullen (1851-bef 1880) who married Thomas Alexander Stiles and had the following children: Virginia Alice (Charles McKinzie), John Hollenwager and William Otis Hewitt.

6. Catherine B. Pullen (Sep 1853-aft 1930) who married John P. Brehl and had the following children: William Edward, Anna B., Mary A., John F., Frank C., infant and Harry Owens Brehl. Note- The Brehl family moved to Potter County, South Dakota.

7. John Lewis Pullen Jr (Nov 1855- 17 Jul 1930) who married Mrs. Mary Etta Warren.

8. Joseph Douglass Pullen (4 Apr 1865-6 Jan 1881) Joseph was born in Louisville, and died in Tallula, Menard County, Illinois. He is buried in White cemetery at Tallula. He died of heart problems.
