Kyoto Trip Part 2

Nijou Castle and Heian Jingu

This is the main building of Nijou Castle, perhaps one of the coolest places I've been to in Japan. As you can see, it's a major stop on the J.H.S. students Kyoto trip. The castle was swarming with students, and it was like I never left Shiraoka.

Here is one of the interior buildings, I don't remember what it is, but it's located in the inner-most part of the castle.

Here's another interior building that housed guests and such (I think. I don't have the paper that explains everything in front of me right now.

This is the garden inside the castle. It was very nice and the picture doesn't do it justice.

Here we have the biggest torii (Shinto gate) in Japan (or so I've been told). It's made of metal and painted bright orange. Pretty tacky actually.

The is the main gate to the Heian Jingu, and the buildings inside aren't anything special.

As you can see it's just more of the same bright orange paint. This is supposed to be a remake of the Imperial Palace just scaled down. The best part about the Heian Jingu was the garden, but my camera ran out of juice so I don't have any pictures of that readily available.
