It is said that long ago, gypsies believed that vampires had an insatiable sexual appetite. The vampire would return from the grave to tend to it's hunger with its widow or a young woman of its choice.
At times these encounters would lead to a pregnancy, resulting in the mix breed of the dhampir. This breed would supposedly attain certain characteristics of a slayer. They would have the ability to detect and destroy vampires. Their abilities were mostly focused on slaying vampires, usually with a pistol if the the vampire is located out of it's burial site.
The abilities of the dhampir can be passed to male offspring, but cannot be taught. The abilities are often passed through a family line as tradition. |
