One Day
By: Gwen Flowers
I will think of you
and not be crying.
I will say your name
without the sighing.
I'll think about your living,
not your dying.
A smile will light my face,
because of you.
One day,
I'll push my cart
right down the baby aisle.
I'll coo at other babies,
with a smile.
I'll even hold a baby,
for a while.
And joy will fill my heart,
because of you.
One day,
I'll treasure every moment
that I had you,
And accept that there
was nothing I could do,
And look back at all the days
I made it through.
Somehow, I will survive,
because of you.
One day,
I won't be lonely
when I am alone.
I'll think of all the ways
that I have grown.
And how I couldn't
get here on my own.
I'll be a better me,
because of you.
One day,
Just not today,
'cause i'm not ready yet.
I'm still afraid,
with healing, I'll forget.
I want to hold my sorrow
for a bit.
I want to hold on tight,
because of you.
