Moreton is a Magpie Cavy I found in a pet shop. A Magpie is a Rare Variety in Australia and can come in Black & White and Chocolate and White.

Magpie's are to have patches - like the Tortoiseshell & White only they have patches of Black, White and a mixture of Black & White instead of the Black, Red & White. Their face is to be half black half white divided down the centre (Moreton has a blaze) and the line down their back and tummy. Moreton is missing the back line but he does have the tummy line (above).

Unfortunately, there are very few breeders in Australia - therefore few Magpies so I don't yet have a matching girlfriend for him. He'll be soon bred to one of my Dark Eyed White (DEW) sows which are apparently genetically similar.

Since starting this page, sadly, Moreton passed away during an extremely hot 45c day in November. I am expecting 2 litters - one from a DEW sow and from Grace. Keep watching this space to see what they produce!
Moreton and his new girlfriend, Grace.
A match made in heaven? Maybe, maybe not, apparently Bi Colours and Magpie's may not mix well. This breeding is an experiment, if it doesn't work out, Grace will continue into my Tri Colour program.
