Mariemeia’s Surprise Mariemeia and Lady Une are sitting in the room that serves the purpose of a lounge room. Relena walks in with a glass in hand. Mariemeia chimes in her usual happy voice, “Hi Relena.” Relena just smiles at the young girl and makes her way to a chair next to where Lady Une is sitting. Lady Une doesn’t speak a word to her. She doesn’t even realize that Relena walked in. She is just absorbed in her thoughts. I am so worried. Why has Rei called me? I gave her my number. The last time I heard from any of the people that went to Paris with her is when they sent Relena to her. What was so important that Relena had to leave them? What is it that made Rei so scared for Relena’s life to send her here? Mariemeia brought Lady Une back to the real world. Mariemeia ran behind where Lady Une was sitting, followed by Relena, who decided to play a game of Tag with the young red headed girl who just regained the ability to walk. Lady just smiled at the two. Relena still has the heart of a child even though she is now a peace representative of the colonies. Lady Une thought to herself, “Mr. Treize would be so proud to see his beautiful child.” The door to the room opened to reveal a brown hair, green-eyed lady being wheeled in a wheel chair by a tall man with flowing blonde hair and ice blue eyes. Mariemeia stopped in her tracks and looks at the two as they enter. She shrieks, “Auntie Rei, Uncle Milliardo.” She runs over to them and wraps her little arms around an injured Rei. Rei flinches in pain. Mariemeia holds her dear friend for about a minute and pulls away from her slowly. “I see the doctors were able to make you all better,” Rei said kindly. “Yeah the doctors fixed me up good. I can do everything that I used to be able to do.” “That is so great dear,” Rei replies and pats little Mariemeia on the head. “Me and cousin Relena were just playing tag.” Rei looks up at her caretaker and boyfriend Milliardo Peacecraft and mouths the words isn’t she the cutest. Mariemeia looks at Rei and then her wheelchair. “I am sorry Auntie.” “About what honey?” Rei questions the young girl that just suddenly turned from happy to sad. “I was just bragging about being able to run and everything else, and now you are in a wheelchair. I am so sorry.” The saddened girl said bashfully. “Don’t be sorry. You didn’t do anything bad. Don’t blame yourself for what happened to me. It isn’t your fault.” “Whose fault is it then?” “Not yours, definitely not your fault. It was the fault of some people that feel that peace shouldn’t happen. Don’t ask me why someone wouldn’t want peace because I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want peace.” She replies to the girl that thinks its her fault for her injuries. Lady Une is still sitting in her chair watching Rei talk to Mariemeia. Her and Mariemeia get along so well. I am surprised that Rei hasn’t tried to talk Milliardo into having their own children. She would be so good with them. She is the perfect mother. A mother I wish I had, Lady Une thought to herself. “Are those people dead now?” Mariemeia comes right out and asks. “Some of them, not all. But the ones that are still alive have learned their lesson. So don’t worry about them hurting me again.” “Ok.” Mariemeia says in her happy tone. Rei looks up at Milliardo again. “Guess what Mariemeia? I got a surprise for you and Lady Une.” Lady Une looks up at Rei after she says this. “Oh, really. What is it Auntie Rei?” “It’s a surprise. I can’t tell you what it is or it wouldn’t be a surprise.” “Ok,” Mariemeia can hardly contain herself. Nobody in her life has gotten her a surprise except for when her birthday comes around once a year. “Milliardo, sweetie, could you wheel me over to Lady?” Milliardo lovingly looks at Rei, “Of course I will.” “Thanks. After you get me over there you can bring in the surprise.” Milliardo wheels Rei over to Lady Une and turns towards the door. “Wait Milliardo, I think you should bring in the rest of our crew in because we will be here awhile. As long as it is ok with Lady. Is that all right?” Lady response “Oh of course. They are praticly our family. I don’t care. Or that’s what Mariemeia thinks.” Milliardo leaves the room to retrieve everyone. “Now what’s this surprise that you are giving Mariemeia?” “Its something big. She will love it.” Rei says with a big smile on her face. “It better not be chocolate. She is already lively enough with out extra caffeine in her body. And it better not be something really expensive either,” Lady Une says. “It’s a lot better than chocolate. And it wasn’t that expensive.” People start walking into the room. A shout comes from Mariemeia, “Duo.” She runs over to him ready to jump on him and give him a hug. “Mariemeia, please don’t jump on me.” Mariemeia stops running and says, “Did those mean people get to you too?” Duo replies to Mariemeia “I am afraid they did.” There are so many people in the room that Mariemeia doesn’t know what to do. She starts running back and forth trying to greet everyone. Rei and Lady Une watch from a distance. Rei watches Mariemeia and one of the biggest smiles Lady ever seen on Rei face forms. “She is a doll.” “Yes she is. I am so proud of her. The doctors never thought she would walk again but then she amazed them by walking. By the way have you and Milliardo ever thought about having children.” “Yes we have. I just hope my child is as precious as she is.” Rei watches Milliardo walk up to the little six year old. He was two times the size her but she didn’t seem to mind. He got down on his knees and said something to Mariemeia. She reacted to what he said very excitedly. He must have just told her that he was going out to get her surprise. Milliardo got back onto his feet and started to walk out the door with the little redheaded girl practically stepping on the back of his shoes. He turned back and told her to wait there. He walks in to the room with a man tagging along behind him. Mariemeia looks a little disappointed in her surprise right now “Mr. Treize,” Lady Une gasps, “I thought he was…I don’t believe my eyes.” “I thought he was dead too.” Rei explains the whole story of what had happened to him. She listens in disbelief but know that every word the wheelchair bound lady told her. Treize walks over to the girl and asks, “What’s your name little girl?” “My name is Mariemeia Khushrenda. What is your name?” she asks nice and politely. He kneels down in front of her so he could be at her eyelevel. “My name is Treize Khushrenda. It’s a pleasure to meet such a sweet girl like you.” He takes a hold of the little girl’s hand and plants a gentle kiss on it. “Lady Une told me once of a man named Treize Khushrenda. She said that he died nobly in battle and that...” the young girl pauses, “ and she said that he was my father. “That is I. I wasn’t killed in battle, some bad guys stole me and made me fake my own death,” He tried to explain what happened to him so his girl would understand, “and that woman in the wheelchair…” Mariemeia inturrupts him. “You mean Auntie Rei? Well she really isn’t my aunt I just call her that.” “Rei is actually your aunt. She is my adoptive sister. Well like I was saying. She was the one to save me from those bad guys.” He says with a smile. “So you really are my father? You’re not lying to me?” Mariemeia asks in disbelief. “Yes, I am your father. I would never lie to my little girl.” The little red head places her arms around her newly found father. Treize returns the hug and breaks down and starts crying. This is my girl. She is everything I ever expected her to be. I am so happy to finally be with her again. Treize thinks to himself. He picks her up and walks to where Lady Une, Rei and Milliardo are sitting. He sits next to Lady Une with Mariemeia on his lap. “My dearest Lady I have missed you so much,” Treize kisses her on the cheek, “Thank you for taking care of my little Mariemeia.” |
