Our Story

Young Enterprise provides young people with the opportunity to test out ideas,  learn new skills and experience difficult circumstances.  Right from the first day our company became a reality we found this to be true.   So far we have found it to be a challenging experience which exposes us to new situations.

Our first  meeting was spent making many decisions, first of which being which company roles each member should take.  These were decided as follows:

Managing Director  -  Lisi Crossley
Financial Director  -  Charlotte Linaker>
Company Secretary  -  Vicky Gill
Personnel Director  -  Laura Coughlan
Marketing & Sales Directors   -  Leah Wright & Veronika Groten
Operations Directors  -  Trista Edwards & Alison Robberts
Later these roles were changed due to some achievers leaving the school and others realizing that their roles were not 100% right for them.  To see the current hierarchy of Gwir Farben please visit the Company Directors page.  We have now achieved a successful and productive team.

The first obstacles that we have had to overcome were choosing our name and product.  This proved to be a difficult task at first, but after a few brainstorming secessions were were soon on our way.  We decided that the name Gwir Farben was fitting as it is a mixture of Welsh and German, just like our company.  The English meaning is True Colours, which can easily be linked to our colourful products.

Our products consist of unique, hand painted ties, scarfs and handkerchiefs.  These were a fantastic idea brought forward by a  company member at on of our first meetings.  The whole company agreed that there was easily a large gap in this market, so after some market research we pursued this line of products.  Pricing was at first a problem but we now believe that we have set the optimum prices for our range.

We have recently attended a local market in Denbigh. We all feel that we have learnt a considerable amount about selling and displaying our products by attending it.  We look forward to using this knowledge when we attend the young enterprise trade fair in Llandudno on the 3rd of February.

We also had the opportunity to attend a conference, given by the denbighshire young enterprise area board in association with team international, on company and product marketing.  This was a fantastic learning experience.

So far Young Enterprise has taught us many skills that we did not have before forming the company.  It continues to offer us confidence, independence, organisational and IT skills.  Our team working, problem solving and communicating skills have also benefited immensely.

The whole experience of Young Enterprise has given us a taste of business life and the world of work. Young enterprise has taught us so much and I'm sure the memories will be with us forever.
