The Dansboro Ball

The week before the Ball, Scarlett was a complete mess. She spent most of her time admiring her dress, it was more like guarding it from anyone who might try to hurt it. In fact, Scarlett was so overprotective, that Cathy finally had to come remind her that she had a child to take care of.

"Scarlett darling, I know that you're excited, but just look at Katie. You haven't payed her any attention all week! Look, I know that you're excited but you must remember your family."

"Don't worry! I haven't forgotten them."

The night of the Ball finally arrived. Scarlett was completely insane. But she was beautiful. Her dress fit perfectly in all the right places, and she looked as beautiful as she did when she was 16.

The carriage arrived just in time, for Scarlett was admiring her self in the mirror, and telling herself that she would be the queen of the ball! And she was...

The King's Palace was lit up magnificently. There was so many candles that Scarlett thought she was entering the gates of heaven. As she entered the ballroom, she was astounded. The inside was covered in Gold. This place was even more beautiful than she had ever imagined.

She recieved her place in line with all of the other people waiting to greet the king. And what a king he was. Scarlett could barely see him over the crowd of people, but what she could see she liked.

He was tall, with pale skin that perfectly contrasted his dark brown hair. And he had the most interesting blue eyes that Scarlett had ever seen. They seemed as if there was something more behind them, some sort of secret that was hidden from everyone. And the Irish accent that he had developed after spending so much time amongst his land was devine, so romantic it made Scarlett's heart flutter with every word he said to her.

Later in the evening, Scarlett accidently overheard some of the older ladies gossiping about the king while she was sitting down for a bit of a rest. She only heard a little of what they were saying, but it was enough. Apparantly, his kingdom extended beyond the realm of Dansboro, and reached out onto a small island just off the northern coast of Ireland. Such a large amount of land meant a lot of tenants, which meant lots of wealth and power. But the ladies continued to mention what a good reputation the king had, and how much better he treated his tenants than many of the other English Landlords. But the best part of the whole conversation was that this king was looking for a queen...
