The sisters take care of about 30 residents (the number often changes).
These are divided into two dormitories. One for the men, the other
for the women and children. These are very special people who are in
deep need of love affection and attention. Part of our mission in Palermo
is to take care of these residents. In fact every Saturday evening we
organise a spettacolo for them. This consists of tombola, dancing, and
a small play, in which our aim is to make them laugh in any way possible!
For anyone to live at the sisters house he must either have
nobody in this world ready to take care of him or he must be sick. This is
so because the sisters always try to serve the poorest of the poor. Some
of the residents have been living at the sisters for 20 years and over. There
family have become the sisters and the other residents. Each and everyone
of them is special in his or her own way. All they want is that you can sit
down with them so they can chat with someone, while a cigarette is
always welcomed!
