Hi Paul. One of my favorites KISS Albums is Lick It Up. Until last weak when I could get the great KISS Animalize Live Uncensured Video after a lot of years- I was thought that Young and Wasted was sung by Gene Simmons. What a surprise when I saw Eric Carr perform that tremendous hit. I heard the original version to verify if it was Gene or Eric who sing that song. The voice is from Gene Simmons, I guess. Who really sings Young and Wasted??? and, if it's Gene, why let Eric performed it. It's only a little doubt, not a critic. Both versions are great. I was very happy when I was Eric performing the song. Greets to Mexico Rock City and Merry KISSMas... the best wishes.

Interesting question! On the album Gene sang that song. Eric always wanted to sing as much as possible on stage, but the problem was his recorded voice didn’t suit most songs, so he asked if he could sing YAW on that tour. The timbre and sound of someone’s voice is less critical in a live situation than when recorded. And although it would have been great to have featured Eric singing more on albums, it ultimately (even then we tried) didn’t work. That being said, his contributions overall were, and remain enormous. |
