155th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Company H

Thank you for your interest in Company H of the 155th PVI.  This information package is provided as an orientation to our organization, and to Civil War reenacting in general.  Company H (the unit) was established to preserve the memory, through participation in Battle reenactments and Living History events, of the people who lived, served, sacrificed, and died during the period of the American Civil War.

Civil War reenacting can compliment and expand your interest in this time in our nation’s history.  Being involved in the recreation of battles, both great and small, experiencing camp life, and meeting others with similar interests will enhance your knowledge and understanding of the Civil War.

We pride ourselves in being a FAMILY-ORIENTED ORGANIZATION, significant other and children are definitely welcome, and our members will help your “camp followers” with their impression.

ATTENDING EVENTS

Contact the Company’s 1st Sergeant if you wish to attend an event with the 155th.  Each event usually requires a nominal fee between $3.00 and $10.00 per attendee.  Registration information, rules and regulations, and directions to the site are provided to all registered individuals.  Once you are registered, please contact the 1st Sergeant if you cannot attend.

Prior to becoming and official member of the unit, prospective members are eligible to make use of unit equipment (if available) at events.  It is necessary to contact the 1st Sergeant to check on the availability of uniform, weapon, and accouterments.  The unit possesses a limited number of these items, therefore, contact the 1st Sergeant as soon as you know if you will be attending an event.

Those wishing to camp out at an event may want to bring the following items:

   WATERPROOF GROUND CLOTH
FOOD AND DRINK IN A COOLER
   SLEEPING BAG/WOOL BLANKETS
   PERSONAL ITEMS AND UTENSILS

At the event, you will be instructed in the safe use if muzzle loading firearms.  Safety at events is Pinnacle.  Any intentional misuse of firearms, powder or caps is cause for immediate ejection from the event and/or unit.  You will also be instructed in the “SCHOOL OF THE SOLDIER” and take part in
Company drill.
