Rocky Hill Ranch 50K & 25K Trail Runs always seems to start summer for
us in the Texas Hill Country.
Our 3rd year was not much different than the other two. A damp mist on
the ground led to a very
comfortable start at sunrise for 225 runners. All frost is removed by
Fat Chuck's Demise in the first mile.
The second loop was much hotter as temps soured to the low 90s.

Matt Harrington 3:51:00 seemed to have way to much fun on his way to
topping his own course record.
Bill Gardner 4:06:30 and Todd Gerlach 4:07:42 finished second & third.
Megan Haley 4:51:06 won first
female. Bridget DelaRosa 5:12:08 & Rebecca Watkins 5:48:18 finished
second & third.

Steve Sisson 1:44:06 won the 25K, followed by Ray Woodall 1:47:20 &
Jorge Alvarado 1:49:31 in
second & third. Julee Pollock 2:04:19 lowered the course record she set
last year. She was followed
by Bonnie Howarth 2:08:42 & Lynn Doelger 2:08:54, all under the previous
course record.

RHR prides itself in its care for the runners, and again provided the
best in on course service. Bottles
were filled with ice & drinks, ice bags were handed out, popcicles,
home-made colaches from our very
own running chef Slammin Sammy at Sammy's Kitchen (mile 10). Sam also
cooked up brisket & sausage
for the volunteers but also for any runner who wanted to put on some
weight. Joyce took care of the Naked
Ape station (mile 5), while Doug managed the finish aid station. Brice
entertained at the crossroads water stop.
Chris, Leslie, & Kreutz Photography wandered the course taking hundreds
of pictures, our sag bike riders
assisted any who were confused and to keep us informed where everyone
was. Carroll handled registration.
Kyle provided efficient results, Jim is our head GoFer, and Jack
provided everything else, including the large
shade tent at the finish. There were many others. The scope of what all
takes place fills a small book. The
mood and camaraderie between runners, workers, and crews is truly an
awesome feeling. It feels so good
that I think I'll do it again next year.
