WACO Trail Run Wrap-up

Well, I am glad everyone got a butt-kickin' at my race. That was what it was meant to be. A but-kickin' good time that you want to come back for year after year. Good trail, good goodies, and good beer and food afterwards. What more could you ask for? I had good compliments after everyone finished the 10 miler or the 1st loop of the 50K like, "You're sadistic!", and, "You're a very mean person!"   Also things like, "God will pay you back for punishing all of us!"

I knew that anyone from outside of Waco would underestimate the course.  I will make a few adjustments for next year's race, but I won't say what they will be except that I will add more hills to the course. Sort of like a mini-Barkley! So be prepared!!

I will say though that I will add a WACO TWO-0 to the race to get those not ready for the FIVE-0. I will also limit the runners as not to get too big too soon. (Not to get ahead of myself).  I feel that word of mouth will bring lots of folks to Waco next March.

I wanted to give that personal touch to each and every runner and make it special for them to be there. I hope I succeeded this year. I tried to made it a point to congratulate every runner that crossed the finish line and thank them for coming out and also take their picture. If I didn't succeed, I apologize. It wasn't for a lack of enthusiasm, but maybe I was out on the course attending to other things that I may not have gotten around to shaking your hand.

So there you have it. I wanted to give Texas runners a good trail race that gave them their money's worth
and I feel that I succeeded. I hope that you felt I succeeded too!

I also want to thank all the volunteers who spent their time making this run possible.  You will be getting something special in the mail for your help.

I am thinking of another race for the fall in Waco.  I have two ideas and I want to get y'alls opinion.  First, a 50K relay of three runners where each runs a loop.  Second, a 10 mile race with a team of 3 runners.  The kicker though is that all 3 runners have to finish together.  Sort of like an adventure race.  Both races would have a high school division, college division, mixed, masters, etc divisions.

So just let me know what you would think.

So put down on your calendar for next year March 10th, 2007 for the WACO.....OH NO'S (as Stuart Skeeter says)
