| Richard: What is love if not a risk. John: Nelle, we all move on at some point. Richard's getting married., Ling became a judge, Ally's going to New York. People move on. It's part of life. People move on. Richard: Ally, the Biscuit said that my marrying Liza today was worthy of you. And, I would agree. Without your influence I don't think I would be open to the insanity that's just caused me to go with what I feel. Ally walks into her office and remembers the time when 3 years ago she and Billy were in her office and he tells her, '' I just never figured you could meet the person of your dreams at age 8.'' Georgia comes and stands by the door. Georgia: Hey. What are you thinking about? Ally: Oh, just stuff. (pause) Georgia: Hard to say goodbye, isn't it? Ally: Mmh, well, it really isn't goodbye. I wish that everybody would stop thinking that. I plan to keep in touch. Georgia: I meant your room. A lot happened in this office. (Ally remembers 3 years ago when she and Billy kissed) Ally: Well, what do you mean? Georgia: Just, stuff happened. A lot of memories. Ally: Well, you know, a room is a room. 4 walls. Georgia: Yea. Well, I'll give you some time with these 4 walls. (She leaves) (Ally remembers telling Larry that she's demented in her office last year) John: Uhm, Ally? (Ally turns around) Ally: John. Hey. I thought you were avoiding me. John: Me? No. Ally: Well, we haven't talked about this. John: Well, there's nothing really to say. (pause) I know why you're leaving. I know it's the right decision. You know how I feel about you leaving. I guess there's no need for words. (pause) Ally: Maybe not. (pause) John: You're the soul of this place. In some way you've become the soul of all of us. (pause) And, I am afraid what will happen when you go. Ally: I think you under-estimate your own soul, Mr. Cage.(pause) John: (reaching from his pocket) I do have a parting gift.(pause) It's a necklace. A friend of mine designed it. (Ally takes the necklace from the palm of his hand) It's remains of the Trade Center. (pause) Figured it was fitting since you're - (pause) Ally: It's beautiful. (pause) John: I'm sure it'll look beautiful on you. (Ally puts on the necklace) I was right. (pause) Ally: Thank you. (pause) Look, uhm - (John shakes his head and smiles in disbelief) (pause) John: Well, there's probably a party going on downstairs. I think we should join them. Ally: Right. (They leave) At the Bar Nelle: What time is your flight? Ally: At ten.Yea, i guess I'm gonna have to leave pretty soon. (pause) Nelle: You don't mind if I take your office, do you? It has better light than mine. Ally: Fine. Nelle: Listen, Ally, I know we've had our differences but - (pause) Is there anything I need to know in particular about your office? Ally: Just that it's lucky. Nelle: (smiling) Oh. (pause) Good. That's good to know . (Vonda Shepard begins singing ''Neighborhood'', and Ally stays still) Ally, are you alright? Ally: Yea, I just need to get some air. (She leaves) |
