Second beach |
We have a couple beaches, separated by a Mangrove forest. |
This beach is only 100 yd from the house. The last hurricane washed most of the sand in the water, but there is still some left. On low tide, the water is very shallow, but perfect for small children and clam digging. |
This is the second beach just around the Mangrove forest. Nice soft sand, a lovely bay, great swimming and a whole bunch of Palapas to give you shade. |
Of course, please use always a proper bathing attire, a G-string or a sombrero. (Yes, the sombreros are placed right) |
The Mangrove forest is a real treasure for bird lovers. Here are nesting all the sea birds, from the Cormoran to the Fregat birds, Herons, Heremans, Boobies, it is a real bird sanctuary. |
It is just wonderful taking our kayaks, paddeling into the tide channels and watching all the birds. |
There are many miles to hike along the beach, going toward the peninsula of El Mogote. We have plenty of Eagles, Osprays, Falcons and of course Buzzards. An Ornithologist had once set up a feeder at the Hacienda and counted more than 300 different species. |
