In the name of Allah most
gracious most merciful,
Assalaamualaikum wa
rahmatuallahi wa barakatahu,
Did Prophet[pbuh] Kissed Torah?
A lie spoken by jews &
christians is refuted alhamdulilah. They say" When there was a processiong in
Medina, the Jewish people were
carrying the Torah - Prophet
went over to the procession and kissed the torah to show his respect to the
holy book" with this they say prophet recognised
Torah as uncorrupted book
hence muslims should also believe that it is an uncorrupted book.
Refutation:
Among the authentic hadith
,Sahih Bukhari,Sahih Muslim,Abu Dawood,At Tirmidi etc..
Prophet pbuh never kissed
torah.
And Prophet Muhammad pbuh
was'nt seen kissing Quran ,had he kissed Torah it wud've been a sunnah.
Some kuffar also manipulate the below hadith dawood 4434 that he kissed the Torah and then placed it on cushion but below hadith refutes that.
1.Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith
4434 Narrated byAbdullah Ibn Umar
A group of Jews came and
invited the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) to Quff. So he visited them in
their school. They said:
AbulQasim, one of our men has
committed fornication with a woman; so pronounce judgment upon them. They
placed a cushion for the Apostle
of Allah (peace be upon him)
who sat on it and said: Bring the Torah. It was then brought. He then withdrew
the cushion from
beneath him and placed the
Torah on it saying: I believed in thee and in Him Who revealed thee. He then
said: Bring me one who is
learned among you. Then a
young man was brought. The transmitter then mentioned the rest of the tradition
of stoning similar to the
one transmitted by Malik from
Nafi'
* Note:He then withdrew the
cushion from beneath him and placed the Torah on it saying: I believed in thee and
in Him Who revealed thee.=like
the way we believe in torah
but not the corrupted scripture.

2.Al-Muwatta Hadith
Hadith 41.1
Malik related to me from Nafi
that Abdullah ibn Umar said, "The Jews came to the Messenger of Allah, may
Allah bless him and grant him
peace, and mentioned to him
that a man and woman from among them had committed adultery. The Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, asked them,
'What do you find in the Torah about stoning?' They said, 'We make their wrong
action known and flog
them.' Abdullah ibn Salam
said, 'You have lied! It has stoning for it, so bring the Torah.' They spread
it out and one of them placed
his hand over the ayat of
stoning. Then he read what was before it and what was after it. Abdullah ibn
Salam told him to lift his hand.
He lifted his hand and there
was the ayat of stoning. They said, 'He has spoken the truth, Muhammad. The
ayat of stoning is in it.' So
the Messenger of Allah, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave the order and they were stoned .
"
Abdullah ibn Umar added,
"I saw the man leaning over the woman to protect her from the
stones."
Malik commented, "By
leaning he meant throwing himself over her so that the stones fell on
him."
* Note:They spread it out:it
was there before prophet but he did'nt kissed Torah.

3.Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 194
Narrated byJabir ibn Abdullah
Umar ibn al-Khattab brought to
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) a copy of the Torah and said: Allah's
Messenger, this is a copy of
the Torah. He (Allah's
Messenger) kept quiet and he (Umar) began to read it. The (colour) of the face
of Allah's Messenger (peace be
upon him) underwent a change,
whereupon AbuBakr said: Would that your mother mourn you, don't you see the
face of Allah's Messenger?
Umar saw the face of Allah's
Messenger (peace be upon him) and said: I seek refuge with Allah from the wrath
of Allah and the wrath of
His Messenger. We are well
pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as
Prophet. Whereupon Allah's Messenger
(peace be upon him) said: By
Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad, even if Moses were to appear before
you and you were to
follow him, leaving me aside,
you would certainly stray into error; for if (Moses) were alive (now), and he
found my prophetical
ministry, he would have
definitely followed me. Transmitted by Darimi.
* Note:a copy of Torah was
brought before prophet but he never took and kissed it.

4.Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith
9.632 Narrated byAbu Huraira
The people of the Scripture
used to read the Torah in Hebrew and explain it to the Muslims in Arabic. Then
Allah's Apostle said, "Do
not believe the people of the
Scripture, and do not disbelieve them, but say, 'We believe in Allah and
whatever has been revealed...' )
3.84)
* Note:here not recognising
what people of scriptures used to read completely, its like giving no importance
to Torah in terms of absoluteness.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Though Muslims do recognise
Torah as corrupted book, but certain parts which affirm with Quran are held to
be true.
Corruption of Torah:
-----------------------
2:79 Then woe to those who
write the Book with their own hands and then say: "This is from Allah" to traffic with it for a miserable
price! Woe to them
for what their hands do write
and for the gain they make thereby.
5:13 But because of their
breach of their Covenant We cursed them and made their hearts grow hard: they
change the words from their (right) places and
forget a good part of the Message
that was sent them nor wilt thou cease to find them barring a few ever bent on
(new) deceits: but forgive them and
overlook (their misdeeds): for
Allah loveth those who are kind.
Allah knows best.
