| Abner Come Home | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Arnold searches the city for Abner, his pet pig, who ran off into the streets chasing a cat
Written by Joe Ansolabehere Storyboard Direction by Cullen Blaine Animation Direction by Howie Parkins Storyboard Artist: Rob Porter Cast: Arnold - Toran Caudell Gerald - Jamil W. Smith Grandpa - Dan Castellaneta Grandma - Tress MacNeille Ernie, human Abner - Dom Irrera (credited as "Irerra") Abner the pig - Maurice LaMarche * The credits list Maurice LaMarche (the voice of Helga's father) as Abner; assuming it refers to the pig's voice, this is one of very few cartoons where Frank Welker doesn't do the animal voices (see also "Pigeon Man" in episode 14) * Abner's doghouse (er, pighouse) has been there for a while; the "E" in "Abner" is backwards, which indicates whoever put the sign there was quite young (but, as pointed out in "Parents Day", Arnold has been living there since he was very young) * The billboard for the boarding house lists the address as 4040 Vine Street (which is what it says in "Magic Show" but not in "Sally's Comet") * The phone number on the "Have You Seen This Pig" billboard is 555-PORK; presumably (and coincidentally), it must be the boarding house's regular phone number * For someone with little money, Arnold can certainly afford some expensive things, like a billboard and color copies...then again, someone pointed out that he could have used the money he won in "Spelling Bee" (you never do see that keyboard in the boarding house) * Uh, footballs aren't really made from pig skins (at least not any more) * Arnold has a great-uncle named Phil, but (according to "Sally's Comet") his grandfather's name is also Phil; assuming they're related, that makes the two Phils brothers |

| The Sewer King | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Arnold drops Grandpa's antique watch down a hole into the sewers, so Arnold and Gerald descend into the city sewers, where they must get it back from Sam "the Sewer King", who won't give it back...and could use two new "royal rat groomers"
Written by Keith Kaczorek Storyboard Direction by Tuck Tucker Animation Direction by Alan Smart Storyboard Artists: Derek Drymon, Kelly James Cast: Arnold - Toran Caudell Helga - Francesca Marie Smith Gerald - Jamil W. Smith Harold - Justin Shenkarow Sid (uncredited) - Sam Gifaldi Grandpa - Dan Castellaneta Sewer King - David Lander * David Lander is the voice of the Sewer King; presumably, this is David L. Lander, better known as Squiggy on Laverne & Shirley * At breakfast, Arnold is eating something from a box marked "Bacon And Eggs" (it isn't clear if it's cereal, oatmeal, or some sort of "instant bacon and eggs"), which has "recommended daily allowance (of) Sludge Factor 7" * In the jeweler's glass case is a display of "Squatch" watches * Things Must Have Been Made A Lot Better Back Then: actually, it's doubtful the watch would have survived the initial drop, especially since something solid that falls for more than three seconds drops at least 140 feet! * Both Arnold and Sam cheat at chess: Arnold's first move is e5 (P-K5), and Sam replies by moving his c-pawn to d5 (QBP-Q4) * If the sink in the boarding house empties directly into the Sewer King's hands, imagine what else has reached there... * Hatless alert: after the fall, just before the Sewer King introduces himself |
