* The 1997 Guinness Book of Records (which is what the USA paperback edition of the Guinness Book of World Records is called, probably because it contains quite a few "American" records as well, although the 1998 version has "World" back in the title; note the book in the story is called just "Book of World Records") lists the following records:
o Bubble gum blowing - 23 inches (in California, not Saskatchewan)
o Pogo stick jumping - 177,737 times
o Bouncing a ball on the head - 7 hours 17 minutes 5 seconds
o And somebody really did walk backwards from Santa Monica, California, to Istanbul, Turkey - but how did she cross the ocean?
