| Arnold finishes his magic act by making Helga, who's been heckling Arnold and yelling at Phoebe since she arrived, disappear, but she sneaks away before he can bring her back, only to run into a pole and dream that she's really gone, everybody's happy about it (including her parents), and Phoebe has a new best friend who's nice to everybody Written by Glen David Gold Storyboard Direction by Dan Povenmire (credited in the closing credits as "Don") Animation Direction by Juli Murphy-Hashiguchi Storyboard Artist: Sherm Cohen Cast: Arnold - Toran Caudell Gerald - Jamil W. Smith Helga, Gloria - Francesca Marie Smith Phoebe - Anndi L. McAfee Harold - Justin Shenkarow Sid - Sam Gifaldi Big Bob Pataki, TV interviewer - Maurice LaMarche Miriam Pataki - Kath E. Soucie * Miriam tells Helga to "bring in the mail", but there's a mail slot in the door, so the mail is already "in" * There's a pull-ring on the sheet that hides Helga in the box, but she doesn't pull it; the sheet goes down (and back up) by itself * If nobody could see "ghost" Helga, why did the person in the Helga costume jump over her? * The address of the boarding house, according to Arnold's fliers, is 4040 Vine Street, but in "Sally's Comet" it's 4040 Vineland * Somebody Call The Animators: in the scene with Phoebe and Gloria, the bit of Phoebe's hair that sticks through whatever that is she wears in her hair turns yellow in some scenes, making it look as if Phoebe is wearing a cap of some sort * The names Arnold uses in his "spell" when he makes Helga disappear are the last names of cartoon characters: o (Ned) Flanders (The Simpsons) o (Elmer) Fudd (Bugs Bunny) o (Gerald) McBoing-Boing o (Snidley) Whiplash (Dudley Do-Right) o (Dick) Dastardly (first appearing in Wacky Races) o (Dudley) Do-Right o ("Monty") Burns (The Simpsons) o (Barney) Rubble (The Flintstones) * Glen Gold (the episode writer) tells me that one of those lines of names was originally: Wolf, Abzug, Steinem, Faludi Helga come back and shake your booty! (Naomi Wolf, Bella Abzug, Gloria Steinem, and Susan Faludi are feminists. I only knew two of the names myself...) * He adds: "Also, there was a great bit where we learn that because Helga is gone, Harold isn't just nice, he's actually a brilliant scholar. I got to sit in for take after take of Justin {Shenkarow, the voice of Harold} trying to say 'Carthaga delenda est' with a British accent. I don't think that made the show. {It didn't.} Also: when Helga is falling asleep, I had her fall past a white rabbit whom she sucker punches." |

| Arnold hits Harold with a baseball, who promises to beat Arnold up the next day - with Helga constantly reminding Arnold of how long he has "until you die" Written by Craig Bartlett, Steve Viksten, and Joe Ansolabehere Storyboard Direction by Craig Bartlett Animation Direction by Larry Leichliter Storyboard Artists: Tuck Tucker, Derek Drymon, Dan Povenmire Cast: Arnold - Toran Caudell Gerald - Jamil W. Smith Helga - Francesca Marie Smith Brainy, radio DJ - Craig Bartlett Harold - Justin Shenkarow Stinky - Christopher P. Walberg Grandpa - Dan Castellaneta Grandma, Iggy - Tress MacNeille Uncredited: Joey * This was (from what I've heard) the story used for the "preview" that was shown in theaters before Harriet the Spy (however, it's not on the video tape of the movie); some of the "Nicksclusives" show scenes that look like they come from this episode, but Arnold's sweater is orange and his shirt blue (instead of the other way around), and Helga's pink dress reaches up to her neck (it has a white collar) and has sleeves * Grandpa says that he's (at least) 80 years old (in "Grandpa's Birthday", he turns 81) * When Helga does her impression of Harold saying Arnold's name, one of her bottom teeth sticks out, just like Harold * There's a pay phone on the first floor of the boarding house, but a non-pay phone on the second floor - and both are dial phones; meanwhile, Arnold has his own touch-tone phone in his room * The boarding house has a downstairs bathroom, but in "Gerald Comes Over", there's only one bathroom and it's upstairs * There's a sign on the second floor; the only part that's visible is "(4) No Loud Noises After 9 PM On Weekdays" * Arnold takes his hat off when he goes to bed * The digits on Arnold's digital clock-radio aren't seven-segment LEDs but roll around on dials; also, both the buzzer and radio sound when the alarm goes off * Immediately after Harold is knocked out by the ball, Iggy briefly removes his glasses * Sheena is one of the people at the fight...but in "School Play", Sheena says she doesn't like violence * Joey has a "line" after Iggy hits him in their fight at the end, but nobody was credited for it. * Bad Hair Day: when Helga talks Harold into delaying the fight by a day, Nadine has brown hair |
