News from Austin
Shane is in his final semester at the University of Texas School of Law. As usual, he is kept busy with extracurricular activities. He is the skits writer for the law school musical, Assault and Flattery, will participate in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition in a few weeks, and is the Book Review Editor of the Texas Law Review. Every once in a while, he manages to squeeze in a class or two as well.
I am working while I wait for Shane to graduate. I am currently doing customer assistance for GM as a supervising customer relations manager. The best thing about the job is the close proximity to home--I only have to drive 7 minutes to work.
Our Plans
Shane accepted a position with Stinson, Morrison, Hecker in Kansas City. His job will start in September, so he will spend the summer studying for the Bar Exam.
I have applied for the PhD program in English at the University of Kansas. I hope to start in the fall, and will probably spend the summer doing temp work.
We will be moving back to Kansas City in May and are currently looking for a house in the Liberty or Parkville school district. Unfortunately, the first house we made an offer on was withdrawn from the market--apparently the fact that we wanted their house reminded the owners how much they liked it! We are still looking, and are kind of hoping that first house will come back on the market.
We hope to adopt a dog as soon as we have a nice fenced-in yard for it to play in, so keep an eye out for any cute puppies for us!
