MUSIC

[a fairy!] This is the beginnings of what will be a list of places to find faery music. This includes old ballads about faeries as well as contemporary music inspired by faeries. As I come across albums with faery songs I will add them. I would also like to have a list of published sheet music at some point. Eventually, I intend this page to contain a few sound files you can download and listen to.

The King of the Fairies (set dance)
One version was recorded by Frank O'Higgins, and can be found on Milestone at the Garden, a collection of fiddle tunes from Rounder Records. Ashley MacIsaac also recorded this song on Devil in the Kitchen, an EP from A & M.

The Faeries' Reel (Manx reel)
Joemy Wilson does a nice hammered dulcimer version on Celtic Dreams, from Dargason Music.

Faeries' Lamentation" (Irish)
Again, there is a version by Joemy Wilson (see above). The Cheiftains have also done one.

The Stolen Child
Both Loreena McKennit (on Elemental), and The Waterboys (on Fisherman's Blues from Ensign Records) have set this Yeats poem to music.

The Land of Faerie.
"A Musical Faerie Tale".
