| Hi! My name is Haley Conners, and I made this website because I have Diabetes: Type One. I want people to see this site, even if they don't have Diabetes, because it's always good to learn about something new...besides, you just might know someone who has Diabetes and learn how to take care of them! I first found out that I had Diabetes in December of 2000. I was 7 years old then. I am doing so well, that my docter, Dr. Newman of Madigan Hospital in Ft. | What's the difference between Types One and Two Diabetes? |
| they took some tests. I found out then that my sugar level was 570, and the normal was around 80-120! I found out that I had Diabetes: Type One. I had even been showing the symptoms of it before! During the night, I would have to go to the bathroom 5 to 6 times, and I was thirsty a lot. This happens because my pancreas couldn't produce insulin, which converts sugar into energy. So the sugar would spill over into the urin from my kidneys, and my body would tell me to drink a lot of water so that I could get rid of it all. This causes frequent trips to the bathroom. Many people think that when you get Diabetes, you die. That's not true! All you have to do is be aware of your sugar level, and control it with the food that you eat. I don't find it that hard, but some people might, so it is VERY important to have patience! |
