Half Fare Band History

What's the deal with Half Fare?

Here's what's up. HALF FARE kinda started out at the end of the summer '96 in Shorewood, Wisconsin. The Line up was Jake Cohen on Drums, and Tony Dixon and Tyler Koshacow on Guitar. There was now definite Bass Player or Vocalist, just Tyler, Jake and Tony swithcing off. After about five practices and two or three songs over a year, we split up at the end of the summer of '97 (temporarily). At this point, Jake and Tony, with Jake on Bass and Tony on Guitar, entered a band named first The Painkillers and then knee deep, with Bill Browne on drums. knee deep started in winter/spring of '98.We practiced non stop, on and off with Alex Baruth on Guitar. This went on until mid-september when we played five or six songs for a Block Party on Farewell in Bill's garage. Pretty much right after this we broke up and reformed the old band, this time with Tony on drums, Tyler on Guitar and Vocals, and Jake on Bass, under the name HALF FARE. That's were we are right now, writing, recording in Tony and Jake's basement with four track machines, and practicing like hell. Not to mention all three of us are working at Benji's Jewish Deli (aka the cespool) to get money for equipment and recording. Check back to current news to see what we're up to now. See ya.( Y )

UPDATE! 3/1/01

Well, we no longer work at Benji's. In the past couple years, Half Fare has played over a dozen shows, our first being at Indiefest at the Rave, our last being at the Globe. We've put out a couple of tapes, one semi-good quality with 10 songs, but definitly our best represntation. We've played shows with I Belong, No Direction, The Shrubbers, The Gleanors, 5 O'clock Charlie, Scottsdale, Protocol, CCR, and lot's more. We meet I Belong at Indiefest and have been close friends ever since, booking shows together whenever possible. So, this January we decided to call it quits for good. So we set our last show to be at The Globe w/ Friends I Belong and The Gleanors and Hilary's victims. We specially made a four song CD with 4 older songs on it, and made about 40 CDRs to sell at the show (witch are now sold out). Right now, Jake and Tony are playing live as The Stow Aways, and Tony plays in Communist Conspiracy Rhythms with Rob of I Belong and Giff, a friend of Half Fare from way back. Tyler is the now world famous Mixalania, and has put out a 3-song E.P. He is also working on more serious solo stuff, and also working on a pop-punk band called Universal Will to Become with Jake, vocalist Larry Kilgore and a drummer from Shorewood named Tim, as well as one with a drummer from Whitefish Bay who goes by the name of Gaza, and Tony and Tyler are working on a non-punk band with a friend, Lindsey. Jake and Tony are also the music behind the hardcore explosion JERKASS! So if there's any real important stuff from here on in, go to the current news section. Otherwise, thanks to everyone, it's been fun.
