Highway to Hell

(1992)

This is a made for HBO movie about a couple of newlyweds on their way to Vegas to get hitched, when suddenly this psycho cop pulls 'em over (in their Pizza Delivery Ford Pinto HAHA) and swipes Rachel, leaving Chuck face down in the dirt. Not being one to give up on probably the only hot babe he has a chance with, Chuck goes to an old gas station attendant for help. The guy gives him a magic sawed-off shotgun complete with holy bullets as well as a vintage car with which to escape Hell (where AAA stands for Anarchy Armageddon Annihilation). You know what? Now that I think about it, Hell sure is overrated. For centuries people have been babbling on and on about lakes of fire and molten brimstone, but from this movie, I'd say Hell looks ALOT like an ordinary dessert... Hell is full of comedians, as Jerry Stiller cameos as a dead cop, Gilbert Gottfried cameos as Hitler (!) and Ben Stiller does two parts as a guy cooking ribs on the sidewalk and also as Atilla the Hun! The heat in hell must drive everyone insane... it would explain a lot... and the potholes in the HIGHWAY TO HELL are filled in with people's good intentions... Anyway, thanx to an auto repair demon Chuck (and us) find out that Satan had Rach swiped for her tasty cherry. Uggh, Chuck also gets stuck with a sidekick... some little kid that he and Rach wind up keeping after they get out of Hell (oh come on, you knew they were gonna get away!). Well, after several run-ins with Hellcop, a moto gang, a saggy breasted demon, and Satan himself (though I always figured he had bigger horns), Chuck wagers all their souls on one race with Hellcop to the exit of Hell. Sure enough, they escape when Rach finds the car's Nitro boosters, but Hellcop pursues them back into our realm. Thanx to that bastard kid though, we find out Hellcop's power is in his shades (oh for the love of the Sphinx...) and Chuck and Rach bust 'em up, sending Hellcop back to Hell, and the 3 live happily ever after as a nice little family (Uggh). This thing had some moments, but the were FEW and FAAAAAR between. damn was it ever stupid... even for an HBO original was it ever stupid!
