the Prophecy

(1995)

This is genuinely an awe inspiring flick! It takes the fine line between good and evil and BLOWS IT ALL TO HELL! It shows us that nothing, not even angels, are "pure"! However, without a basic understanding of the Bible, specifically the book of revelations, you may not pick up on some of the story, let alone the little inside jokes (like Gabriel's trumpet). But, here's the "lowdown": some "would-be priest turned cop" named Tom investigates a murder and meets Simon: a Latin speaking, necrophiliac, pedophile, angel. Simon is on a job to keep the angel leader Gabriel (Christopher Walken!!) from capturing the evil soul of a dead colonel. The colonel's soul can mean victory for Gabriel's forces in the second war for control of Heaven, but Simon still works for God, so he must stop Gabriel at any cost, up to (and eventually including) his own afterlife! But, before Simon's extinguished from existence, he transfers the soul into a little Indian girl. So, now Tom and his new pals must stop an avenging angel and his undead groupies. Can they do it? Well, maybe, but only with a little help from my pal, the Fallen Angel, the Lord of Darkness, the Master of Hell himself, Lucifer! All this makes for one of the all around best events I've seen in cinematic history! Gregory Widen, I salute you (which involves my snorting Kool-Aid and flipping through the "Victoria's Secret" catalog)! Oh, and to my friend Nichole, who disliked this movie, "suck my genitals!". Please.
