This is a Corman remake of an old horror movie of the same title. Though the makeup FX give it that 50's retro monster feel, the rampant sex reminds you it's a product of the 90's! The story wasn't all that bad either, centered around an aging model who'll do anything to get back her old looks. Anything? Yep, including injecting wasp hormones into herself, which result in hallucinations and increased libido (sign me up!), but also turns her into a GIANT WASP MUTANT! Then she goes about seducing and cocooning her rivals, and becomes able to control her transformations, so she can now turn into a monster whenever she wants to bee (Bwa-ha) one. But, feeling unattractive, she blows herself up! This was for the better, because her boyfriend would've dumped her anyway! Powerful women intimidate men! And Wasp Woman just scare the shit out of us! Had I done this movie myself, I wouldn't have made the plot so damn obvious! I also would've cut the opening scene involving the jogger being attacked by the swarm! It had NOTHING to do with the friggin' movie! I could've made it GOOD!
Sequels: this is a remake of Roger Corman's 1960 flick of the same name.
