The Hand is more than a ‘social-club’ and more than just a group of friends. It is the culmination of people with similar thoughts and feelings, united and joined, but varied to the degree of the individuals that comprise it.
To be a Hand requires deep commitment and allegiance; a devotion to the group, as well as to oneself.

I think the Hand is more of a family than anything else. I can’t imagine myself anymore without being in the Hand. I also like to think we are all on the side of good, against the evil of the land, which is beginning to grow.

I joined the Hand for a few reasons; the first was because I hoped to meet a wonderful group of people who were always there, even if it was just to chat. I also liked the way that everyone was kind, and willing to accept me right away. I believe that is a defining part of the Hand, their willingness for friendships, and the fact that no one walking in Mithaniel Marr’s light is turned away from this.

Every being with free will holds a Truth within themselves. That Truth defines one’s path; from the moment it is discovered, until that person’s last moment of life. To find one’s own Truth is not enough, for the Courage to defend the Truth must be discovered. Although many go through life perhaps never seeking neither the Truth, nor the Courage, we must ask ourselves ‘What is the meaning of life, without any reason to live it?’ The Hand of Truth is dedicated to helping find the defining Truth in all beings. The Hand of Truth will defend the morals and values we hold dear. The Hand of Truth will make certain that no man, no woman, no child ever finds their Truth to be despair, suffering, or darkness. For whenever any good soul reaches the lowest depths, whenever there seems to be no hope, they need simply look up and grasp the Hand of Truth. They WILL be pulled up from the darkness and the depths. They will find Truth, and the Courage to defend it. For the Hand of Truth will go to any length, and make any sacrifice to ensure that Truth Shall Prevail!

When I speak of the Hand of Truth to others, I speak of its goals to enlighten those in the ways of good and truth, and combat the forces of those who would extinguish those ways. I am a warrior by nature and by trade, and my steel is dedicated to Justice primarily. I am a follower of the Six Hammers, the judges of the Universe; I swear by the codes and dogma put forth by them. I shall fight injustice to my last breath and with all that I am. I see that quality in the Hand, intolerance to injustice, and that is what I respect and keep close to my spirit.

To be a Hand is both a blessing and a responsibility. When you agree to wear that tag you accept the knowledge that not only are you now part of a family that will stand by you and support you, but also that your actions now affect others. To know that you are a part of something bigger then the sum of its parts, something good, few things in Norrath can compare with that feeling.

Reading the words, and knowing the feelings of others is merely a glimpse at the foundation of the Hand of Truth. The true foundation of this guild is, in fact, the noble souls who carry these ideals unto Norrath every day. A foundation, by definition, is the base of strength on which something stands. The Hand of Truth is not built on words. As long as the men and women who comprise this guild continue to stand in union, upholding the tenets of Truth, Honor, and Compassion, we cannot fall nor fail. I will forever hold these ideals as the core of my existence, and know without question that I will not be alone.
