“Man, the baby is carrying Affleck in this scene.”
No! Be quiet! This hatred is so misplaced. Keep these untruths to yourself, because Ben Affleck can make good, funny films and “Jersey Girl” is one of them.
Writer/director Kevin Smith trades a few (not all) of his R-rated jokes for parental blunders, and forsakes fan boy approval for the infinitely less cool but more grown-up travails of a professionally disgraced widow on life’s rebound.
Even Affleck haters with their Bennifer afflictions in remission will see an actor handling both the waterworks and the tricky trevails of acting with kids. People grow up, even actors. And audiences. |
