Edgar Rolf Schneider was born and grew up in New York City in 1932. The child of immigrants, Mr. Schneider was a child of the big city. Enamored of the opera from an early age, Mr. Schneider studied voice and attended New York City College where he was a Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Alpha Theta. Graduate studies in mathematics were accomplished at American University in Washington, DC where Mr. Schneider obtained a Master of Arts degree. He is a member of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society and is listed in the 2007 and upcoming 2008 Marquis Who's Who.

As a career IBM computer programmer Mr. Schneider began to experience difficulties in concentration and the onset of attention deficit disorder. Intervention came late rather than early and there were repeated hospitalizations, chemotherapy and shock treatments accompanying a diagnosis of schizophrenia. This is the story of one man's struggle up from darkness and misdiagnosis and of learning to cope with autism.

Mr. Schneider's writing goes where few dare and takes on a subject heretofore shrouded in mystery. His style of writing as much as his words give testament to Edgar Schneider's attempt to understand his disorder and dispell much of the secrecy surrounding an affliction more common than previously believed.

The author of a book on physics as yet unpublished, Mr. Schneider has, since writing DISCOVERING MY AUTISM produced LIVING THE GOOD LIFE WITH AUTISMThe author is divorced and remarried. He has three adult children, seven grandchildren, and lives in Georgia.

DISCOVERING MY AUTISM and LIVING THE GOOD LIFE WITH AUTISM are passages on a journey few have recounted and a must read for doctors, educators, or laymen who know and love a child with ADD or Aspergers Syndrome.
