OK, I'm starting to get this page updated. I firmly believe that the right equipment is critical to being a good hunter. The stuff below is what has worked for me. I will have terminal gear up next! |

Daryl Wong Spearguns ~ Aimrite Hawaiian Railguns ~ Kawabunga 3-prongs - Maui Sporting Goods (808-244-0011) |
Why so many spearguns? Well, I do not believe in the "all-around" speargun. Evey speargun has pros and cons. Here are what I use mine for: Cannon of Death - bluewater only (FAD diving) for mahi, ono, ahi, and hopefully marlin Stealth Gun - ulua hunting (and if the ulua aren't around, it's versatile enough to hunt reef fish with), white sea bass and yellowtail, backup bluewater gun Mini Stealth Gun - deep reef hunting for uku and mu (although I have stoned a 36 pound ulua with it) Euro Stealth Gun - general reef hunting (if I put a reel on this gun, I'll be tempted to use it for ukus), NorCal if I ever get up there, same for stripers Kawabunga hybrid 3-prong - aweoweo, aholehole, menpachi, kole (in order of preference!), tako if I get around to it (I have poked a mahi with it!) |
Then again, I could just bust out the "old school" speargun hanging over the door to my garage! |
