Who is the Crab? Name: Willie Mahin Years diving: 28 How I got my nickname: I am actually hapa (Scottish-French-Chinese-Filipino), but the story is that my Chinese grandma, who wasn't used to haole babies, gave me a bath. When I turned red, she thought that the water was too hot and that she had burned me. Ever since then, that side of my family has called me the Haole Crab, since crabs turn red when you put them in hot water. For those of you not from Hawaii, hapa means half and haole is commonly used to refer to caucasions. -the Haole Crab Home |
