Zach's Birth Story
I had a planned c-section with my daughter 2 years earlier as she was breech.  I knew the chances of having him "naturally" this time were pretty slim, but I thought Id never have another chance, so I gave it ago.
So on Wednesday the 23rd of September at 8 am my mother and I went to the hosptial to have an induction of labour.  I was 14 days overdue by this time and knew my chances were even slimmer having an induction, but thought at least Id give it a go.

Gel was inserted not long after 10 am.
At 4pm that night NOTHING had happened, not one little centermetre, infact, Im pretty sure he was further up than before we went in.  So they tried more gell.  And by 8 pm, even tho I had had some contractions, nothing was showing on the monitor, I was not in established labour, so I was given some pethidine and sent to bed in the ward.

At 7 am the following morning I went back down to the labour ward to find that I had dialated a whole 4 cms while sleeping, I was rather excited, and thought this time I was going to get some where.  However the specialist had felt something on the babys head, and not knowing whether it was his hand or imbilical cord, they sent me for a scan, which showed it was just his hand, because by the time we got there, the thing had gone!
During the scan however the baby was estimated to be 9 pds 3.  Which put more of a damper on my hopes of a vaginal birth.

at 10 am more jell was inserted and my waters were broken! I was on a roll. Or so we thought!
at 1 pm, I was still having contractions that were not showing on the monitor, even tho they were getting more stronger and painful.  I was still only 4 measly cms dialated and the babys heart rate began to drop with each contraction.  It was at this stage we decided that a vaginal brith was not going to be a possibility and I was prepped for surgery.

At 2 pm we were in the operating room, a spinal had been inserted and at 2:14 pm, my son Zach was born weighing a hefty 10 pds 11 ozs, and 62 cms long.

It turned out he was posterior, and there was no way that 40.5 cm head was going to fit through my pelvis.
After 4 days in hosptial I went home, and put all my baby clothes in the garage and brought out and washed all the 3-6 months clothing.  I didnt get a baby, I got a 3 month old!!

Since then things have gone brilliantly, he breastfed like a pro, and probably wouldve latched onto a hole in the wall if he could get milk from it!!
