A Brief about Cambodia !

Cambodia used to be a great and prosperous nation in South-East Asia, especially around 10th to 12th century of the Cambodian(also called Khmer) history. However, after centuries of having countless conflicts among its political leaderships who, most of the times, tend to solve their country's problems by relying on the supports of the neighboring countries such as Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia becomes one of the unfortunate countries in the world.

In addition to its unfortunate, during the 20th century, Cambodia has even suffered more tragedy in terms of human lives, especially during The Killing Fields(from the mid 1975s to the late 1978s). During this horrible time, an estimate of 1.7 million Cambodians were perished by execution, overwork, starvation and diseases.

To my family, I lost five members. They were: my parents, my oldest brother who was a medical doctor at that time, my elder sister, and my youngest sister. This was a ordeal experience I have never had in my life.

Today, Cambodia is striving to rebuild the foundation of its infrastucture. However, the government is facing its three major problems(corruption, human rights violations and poverty) to be dealt with.

Nevertherless, I am very optimistic that my homeland will be prosperous in a short future to come.
