Tuchuk Camp

Harigga* stands on the Plains of Turia beside the Aarquelle River. The river is broad, placid, and shallow. There are no cliffs or lakes, though there are secluded pools for bathing. The lifeblood of the People, their bosk herds, graze nearby, ferociously guarded by sleen, and meticulously tended by kajirae.

The bridge across the river is guarded at all times by at least one Warrior and a handful of fully grown prairie sleen or trained larls depending on the time of day. As You are a Stranger here, please approach with caution and good will since You are considered Enemy until You prove otherwise. Your weapons are left at the gate until You are deemed trustworthy by the Tuchuk. Once You are accepted, You are welcomed thereafter with open arms and will be invited often to play and wager on games of skill with Your weapons, or to bet against a Tuchuk.

In the common area You see the Camp whipping post, the branding rack, and the dance pit. Just outside the common area is a practice field, where the Warriors of Camp maintain their martial skills. You will also see slave cages, used to discipline, and kennels for the Camp girls.

One thing Y/you will not see here is a dais. The Ubar of Tuchuk sits on an old grey bosk hide, and that is enough. The trappings of royalty are not for Him.

The Camp itself is extremely colorful, as the Tuchuk are quite proud of their many trophies of war. The wagons are gilded and have varicolored canvases, and the people themselves wear a great variety of costumes. The Camp is situated on the lee side of a hill next to the river, out of the wind, yet easily defensible against any or all of the many enemies of the People.

As a kajira, you are now among kajirae who are of the Camp of the Tuchuk... listen well to them. As a Free, You now stand before the Ubar of the Tuchuk. Remember You are both Stranger and Guest here, and are well advised to listen closely to the Members of Tuchuk and learn from Them, for They hold Your very life within Their hands.

"...The word for Stranger and Enemy is the same in Gorean..."

"On Gor, incidentally, chairs have special significance, and do not often occur in private dwellings. They tend to be reserved for significant personages, such as administrators and judges. Moreover, although you may find this hard to understand, they are not thought to be comfortable."
