The name Haringman was taken in 1812 in Amsterdam. The original name was Cohen. Emanuel Calme Cohen asked to take the family name Haringman in the city of Amsterdam, Holland. If you wish to see the tree please contact us

Important source material for all Jewish families in Holland is the book "Jewish Marriage in Amsterdam 1598-1811" by Dave Verdooner and Harmen Snel. This database covers the period before most Jews had family names. The second book is "In Memoriam" which lists all the Jews of Holland killed in the Holocaust. A third source is the list of households which indicates who lives with whom and covers the period 1890-1939 for the city of Amsterdam.

The WAAS family has its roots in Amsterdam back in 1750 and most of its members stayed in Holland. In the 19th century some of them migrated to England while others went to America. Terry Cooper and Jack Waas have built sites on the family based on my research. Since the Waas family is big I have made two trees--one for Jacob Mozes Waas born 1758 and the second for his younger brother,Abraham Mozes Waas born 1764.

This is the way I received it and hope it will be completed in the near future.Dave Verdooner has done most of the research and does not want the information on the web. Please contact him directly. For further details contact me privately.

The name GOITEIN comes from the town of Kojetein in Moravia. The first member Baruch Benedict was born there and was a rabbi. He wrote "Kesef Nivhar" and left the town. He took the name of Goitein after he left the village.

For the Goitein family there are two sites to check, one on the family tree made by Trace Gouws and the second on the town of Kojetien. In addition, there is the family tree made by Gabor Goitein in 1944 in Kaposvar and updated by Meriam Haringman-Goitein in 1982. Last update March, 2000. The current tree has over 1400 people on it. There is now an alphabetical list of individuals on the tree.

The Barnett=Zweigbaum family originates in Tresboli, Poland. The first known member of this family is Abraham Dov=Bear Zweigbaum ca,1830-8/09/1918 London, England. The original family tree was made by Leonard Hyman and Arnold Oppenheimer and I have updated the tree.
