SELECTED ARTS MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE:

1999-present Director of Development and Educational Outreach, Music of the Baroque Chorus and Orchestra, Chicago, Illinois. Plan and execute fund raising strategy for an organization with an annual budget of $1.4 million, more than 60% of which is supported by contributions from major corporations, foundations and individual donors; plan annual benefit gala and direct the Board of Directors in fund raising for the event which in 2000 netted over $150,000; oversee all aspects of the educational outreach program, including designing the overall program and expansion from one to three school partners, hiring and directing all teachers; formed and served on artistic planning committee that enabled the organization to finalize the concert season two months earlier than in previous years.

1996-1999 Concert Manager, Music of the Baroque. Assisted music director with season programming; prepared budgets for a 27-concert season; coordinated all recording projects; designed and supervised educational outreach program; assisted with grant writing; acted as personnel manager for musicians; executed contracts, agreements and payrolls with musicians, artists' managers and union representatives; coordinated all logistical aspects of concert performance; wrote and edited concert programs and all educational materials.

1991-1996 Publicity Coordinator, Performance Division, University of Chicago Department of Music, Chicago, Illinois. Wrote press releases and ad copy for print and radio; designed posters, and other publicity material for 15 concerts per season and a summer opera festival.

1995-1996 Artists' Assistant, Professional Concert Series, University of Chicago Department of Music. Acted as backstage manager and liaison between professional visiting performers and the administration.

January-June 1993 Research Assistant, for Ingrid Monson, Chicago Humanities Institute and Department of Music, University of Chicago. Assisted with discography and bibliography research for a number of projects, primarily focused on jazz studies.

June?August 1989 and 1990 Orchestra Manager and violinist, College Light Opera Company
Falmouth, Mass. Assisted music directors in running and scheduling rehearsals; transposed and copied music; performed nine musical theater and light opera productions and one orchestral concert each summer.

November 1989-May 1990 National Conference Sales Manager and Chicago Corporate Sales Representative for the play Shear Madness, Cranberry Productions, Boston, Mass. Increased and maintained group sales client base for theater companies in Boston, Chicago, and Washington D.C.; represented Shear Madness at convention planning trade shows in Boston and Chicago.

June-August 1988 Marketing Assistant, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Philadelphia, Penn. Created, organized, and directed student subscription advertising campaign, wrote ad copy for print and radio, designed layout for print ads; assisted with other marketing and subscriptions projects.

June-August 1987 Arts Management Intern: Public Relations, Appel Farm Arts and Music Center, Elmer, New Jersey, a non-profit arts center and summer arts camp. A multi-faceted, self-designed internship which included such duties as planning a concert series, writing press releases, and writing applications and a report to obtain grants.

Spring 1994. Lecturer, "World Music;" Open University, Temple Sholom JCC, Chicago. Responsible for all course material and lectures.

Winter 1993 Teaching Assistant, Music 102: "Introduction to World Music;" University of Chicago. Lectured on Chinese and Japanese music, ran exam review sessions and weekly listening labs, and assisted with grading and course material preparation.

SELECTED PERFORMING EXPERIENCE:

I am active as a semi-professional choral singer and conductor. I also play classical violin and Irish fiddle.

1992?2000 Founder and Music Director of In terra vox, a 14-voice a cappella vocal ensemble specializing in early and twentieth-century music which performs two full-length concerts and several smaller concerts per year, including annual collaborations with the University of Chicago New Music Ensemble, and 1998 performances of a new work for chorus and Javanese gamelan and a concert version of Bizet's Carmen with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, Illinois.
