William Patrick George - a member of the staff of General Cook, commanding the Arkansas division, United Confederate Veterans, was born in Cassville, Missouri in 1847. Despite his youth, he entered the Cofederate service in 1862, under General Price, and served with General M. M. Parson's in the battles of Pleasant Hill and Jenkins' Ferry, and various minor engagements.  After the close of the war he returned to Missouri, began the study of medicine at Cassville, came to Berryville, Arkansas in 1868, and was graduated in medicine at St. Louis Medical College in 1875. He enjoyed  a lucrative practice, and was one of the leading citizens of Berryville. He was the Camp Commander of the John Gould Fletcher Camp # 638, United Confederate Veterans in Berryville for several years.
Dr. George is buried in the Berryville City Cemetery..
