Cincinnati has the Reds. Cleveland has the Indians, but Athens has Harry & Lloyd Inc. The renowned team has provided more than a few fun games for fans. H&L players have become more than hot men in tight pants on the softball field. (Although, if looks could kill, onlookers would be dead.) In the midst of their glory, they have put Athens on the map - allowing the small town to become known more for intramural softball than Halloween. Summing up H&L Inc. in one word would be impossible. They have provided fans with eventful sporting games full of competition and excitement. "I don't know what else I would do on those nights when H&L plays. I might be out on the the |

streets - where I could hurt myself," said Super Fan Amanda Allison. To fans, Harry and Lloyd is family. It's friends. And, it's just plain old fun. "I wish the season wasn't over, but everything good comes to an end," says co-captain Bryan Kaiser. The season has come to an end, but the legend of H&L is not even close to being over. Obsessive fans…have no fear. The games will start up again next year, and you will be able to go back to the one place where everybody knows your name - the softball fields. Long after classes have ended and Court Street is empty, Harry & Lloyd will still be going strong. New fans will appear, and old ones will provide lasting encouragement. Next Spring will come, and we will once again feel the joy that only comes from being on a wet field, yelling and screaming for the one team that has supported us as long as we have supported them. So, this one is for you, Harry & Lloyd. Thanks for the games, the good times and the gallant effort. You made this town what it is today. And remember, for as long as Athens has H&L, H&L will have its fans. |
